Supporters, Family & Friends

Actress Susan Sarandon's statement from August 2013: "Justice has been served. I am very happy for Jimmy Dennis, his family and supporters who have worked and prayed for this day."  Former Statement: "As a strong advocate for the wrongfully convicted, I have become aware of Jimmy's case and hope to help Jimmy and his supporters find justice in this case."

Jimmy Dennis
Actor Ed Asner: "Is it Philadelphia that's called the Cradle of Liberty? Or is it Boston? Whatever. Neither one seems very adept as exemplars of justice. But Philly wins hands down for its lynch mob justice. For example, the latest case being that of Jimmy Dennis. At this point in time, I doubt that Alabama or Mississippi would have so erroneously railroaded a black man 5'4" in height, weight 130 for the killing by a 5'9" 170 lb black man. Jimmy Dennis has been convicted on the flimsy evidence of 3 eyewitnesses who glimpsed the killer for minimal seconds. No circumstantial evidence connecting Dennis to the murder. He didn't know her. For 20 years Dennis has languished on Death Row while Philadelphia has consumed itself with its efforts to kill an innocent man. For God's sake and Jimmy's, do the right thing!"

Activist Cindy Sheehan:  "Jimmy Dennis' conviction was based primarily on stranger identification – three strangers who, according to their own original testimony, saw the assailant for a mere 1, 5 and 20 seconds. There is not one shred of physical evidence linking Jimmy to this crime. This is a travesty of justice. We can’t allow the execution of another innocent man like Troy Davis. Learn the facts about Jimmy’s case and join me in speaking out for him."

Activist Jennifer Thompson Cannino:  "How many victims of the justice system will it take before the powers that be open their eyes to what happens when we make mistakes?  As a rape victim whose mistaken eyewitness sent a man to prison for eleven years, I know firsthand how lives are forever ruined when we, the system, refuse to see the truth.  Other innocent people become victims, families are shattered and people spend years of their lives crying for justice that may never come.  If we carry a banner that states "justice for all" then it is required we stand behind it and make it mean something."  Click here to read Jennifer's story.

Death Row Exoneree Kirk Bloodsworth:  "Adversarial justice is not adversarial to the truth."  Mr. Bloodsworth was a
victim of mistaken ID and was the first individual to be exonerated from death row due to DNA evidence

A Team of Angels

(For:  All that has loved and supported me. . .)

By Jimmy Dennis

After many years of people falling along the wayside

so many broken promises. . .

so many false hopes.

I now have you:  The truth.

The truth and love that's much deeper than

running a website

deeper and much stronger than

speaking out about my innocence.

This is friendship. . ,

it is love. .,

it is my beloved extended family.

You rescued me and never let go.

If I was a mockingbird

and all I ever learned to sing-say was

'thank you'.., 'thank-you'. .,

all my life I would go about

thanking you,

until eternity!

And it will not have been enough giving of you my thanks.

--Jimmy, 2004
